Milagrow TabTop review: company rejoinder

IBNLive.com
Milagrow thanks IBN live for the technical review of the world's only TabTop, which has been designed to replace a computer and other tablets.
We thank the fact that the journalist recognises this in the following words "… something that increases the utility of the device. And that is the number of additional hardware features on the right side of the device. It has an HDMI port, USB 2.0 interface, USB host, line out, microSd card slot and a SIM card slot."
We have positioned it as professional device, which works hard and plays hard. Not only its ports, but its 'all connectivity' options too are most powerful with built-in quad band 3G SIM tray, which is compatible with most Indian 3G providers, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LAN support. Its 1.2 GHz processor is 6 times powerful than iPad 2 as certified by Wikipedia, the 1GB DDR3 Ram is 16 times faster than SD RAM.
It also has a unique anti-glare circuit to prevent eye tiredness, 8 computer-5 device Wi-Fi modem capability, 1080 p full HD, Adobe Flash 11, Adobe Air 3.0,VOIP. Your reviewer recognises "The device offers good audio quality and video clarity. The battery life is good". The battery life is in fact 10+ hours and it just weighs 455g.
These tablets also come fully loaded with over 50 applications grouped in pre-installed tabs much to the liking of the customers and your reviewer who says "it is good that Milagrow pre-installed a plethora of apps and also divided them into various groups such as productivity apps, networking apps, educational apps and more". It makes the Milagrow TabTop ready to use yet the most powerful, fully loaded tablet ever to be launched for the Indian market . We are also giving a multi use leather case free. Will also try to implement your suggestion to give an HDMI cable free with the next edition.
Having said the above we would also like to point out that the tech review journalist has made some basic and factual errors in his review.
He writes that 3G could not operate - he actually forgot to put off the Wi-Fi. He did not read the manual. He writes that the screen is a finger print magnet - he never removed the protective film. Our screen is resistant to finger marks. He writes that the screen is not sunlight readable - nothing can be far from truth. He went in sunlight with brightness level adjusted to very low
He writes that the tablet has aluminium coating - there is no aluminium coating on our TabTop. He writes that it takes 2-3 minutes to boot up after you power on - in our device you boot up only once and thereafter its just a tap and the device is alive in milliseconds. He writes that the touchscreen is not very responsive - this is also not true. Whenever you have the opportunity just try it. It’s the fastest touch in the market today with Rockchip 2918 1.2 GHz processor with 1GB DDR3 Ram. Apple and Samsung are 1GHz with DDR2. He writes that the 2 megapixel camera does not deliver good pictures - does the camera not deliver 2 megapixel images? If he shot in dark then he will get dark pictures. He writes about packaging. He never saw the customer gift packaging as we never gave him one. He was given a demo box and not our expensive gift box.
Now to come to the issue of personal opinions and beliefs. Journalistic freedom is something we respect and hence have nothing against personal opinions. I am sure that more than me you realise that IBN Live as a platform has huge power to influence. The story was picked up all over the world and at last count more than 125 stories/websites have relayed or re-tweeted the story. People tend to believe negatives more than positives in this big and bad world. Freedom of press comes with added burden of responsibility and ethics.
While your journalist believes "in the value conscious and price-driven Indian market, the tablet PC is still a luxury, and not yet a necessity" and he hence has declared Milagrow expensive. Milagrow believes that an evolved tablet is the only device which has the potential to displace sedentary products and proprietary software. The device must deliver excellent computing, connectivity, information and entertainment to the customer. It’s a necessity for the Indian market where 99% of the enterprises are SMEs and the youth population is the biggest in the world. Unfortunately, many fly by night operators are peddling cheap tablets which are bringing the industry a bad name and are confusing as well as exploiting the gullible consumer. With that approach the customer will not touch any tablet. Neither will he be able to discard a phone nor his computer and of course he will not carry a third device in his hand. Milagrow wants to change all that with its technology and intuitive functionality and your reviewer acknowledges that in his own way. I have written a separate article on what is the right tablet for a customer and what it should be cost at http://www.facebook.com/notes/rajeev-karwal/what-tablet-pc-is-best-for-you-and-what-price-is-right-for-it/10150370540536444
Superior technology and experience comes at a cost. Our import price is the third highest amongst all brands being imported into India as per customs, yet our products are almost 50 per cent lower than an Apple or Samsung if they were to deliver the same ports and connectivity etc.
Most Indian brands are buying the products and designs off the shelf from China and bringing it here. Milagrow is the only company which made an effort to invest in an exclusively designed, working device. We gave a brush look to our cabinet to prevent it from damage but your reviewer does not like it as well as our logo. We accept his feedback with humility. On the other hand, we must also mention that we introduced this design after due research and it is finding great acceptance from the market place.
Your journalist does not seem to be very experienced in tech reviews or seems to have made up his mind before the review. All our other reviews on technical performance have been very appreciative of the TabTop.
Also according to us he has used language in the garb of personal opinion which does not benefit an organisation of your repute. I am sure that you would have internal procedures and norms to handle these things.
We have always stood for integrity, honesty and hard work. There is nothing amiss in our product or our organization and it can stand any scrutiny of the universe.
We thank you for agreeing to publish our viewpoint and promise you that we will try harder than ever to be a success and enlist your journalist as one of our big believers on the way.
